Dear Students, Given below are four case scenarios. Your task is to identify the within subject and betweenbsubject research designs from each case along with the justification of your identified research design.
Case Scenario # 1:
Amna conducted a memory test. She selected one group of participants and gave them a memory test by using a list of one-syllable words. She used the same set of participants while testing them by using a list of two-syllable words. She got two set of scores obtained from the same sample. She found that participants recall better a list of two-syllable words than one- syllable-words.
Case Scenario # 2:
Sidra wanted to compare two group of participants on two different mnemonic methods. She gave method of chunking to Group A and method of loci to Group B. Both groups were supposed to learn the course material by using the different methods. She obtained each of the different group of scores from a separate group of participants. She found that chunking method proves more effective in learning the course content.
Case Scenario # 3:
Fahad wanted to compare two different teaching methods in mathematics class of Grade 10th. For this purpose, he used the mathematical exercise at the end of each chapter to Group A. For the Group B, he devised presentation sessions and students were supposed to give presentation about the learnt concept of mathematics. He obtained two set of scores from two different groups of participants. He compared the scores of both groups. He found that students from mathematical exercise group performed better as compared to other group.
Case Scenario # 4:
Sania wanted to test the recall pattern of humorous and non-humorous words. She presented a list of 10 humorous and 10 non-humorous words to a same group of participants. After 10 minutes , list was withdrawn from the participants and they were give a distraction task for 5 minutes. Then they were asked to recall the humorous and non-humorous words. Results showed that participants recalled more humorous words than non-humorous words
